Economic Impacts

People are being forced out of jobs because instead of people going to towns and shopping in shops buying goods, they are shopping for everything online. This means that the shops in the high street are closing down because no one is buying from them. Everyone who used to work in the closed down shops, now have to search for another job. People shopping online is creating jobs for others such as delivery men because they are needed to deliver everything people order. Also there are jobs being created at the distribution centres of the online shops. When we didn’t have the internet, we would go to the local town and buy everything we need there. If we couldn’t find what we wanted, we wouldn’t go online, instead we go without. Now we can just search the internet for what we want to save having to leave the house in search for an item.

More and more jobs are now using internet based applications. People such as office workers are now working with everything saved online rather than doing everything by hand with pen and paper. This makes life a lot easier because a lot more work can be done.  Emails are sent locally around the company to other workers, rather than having to go and find them in the building.

With more and more users using the internet and computers to communicate, we are using fewer natural resources to create methods of communicating. Instead it is all done online so we don’t need to use paper to write to a friend. This means fewer trees to be cut down meaning we are more economical. On the other hand, we are using more power to do the same tasks so we have to use more natural resources in power plants to provide the extra power.
